HARVEST OCRA

LADY FINGER or OCRA (Abelmoschus esculentus) or Kacang Bendi in Bahasa Malaysia under Malvaceae family grown as fresh vegetable. A total area of 1,818 hectare ocra was planted in 2011 with total production of 22,400 metric tones. Major production area are in Johor (290 hectare) followed by Sarawak (242 hectare) and Kedah (218 hectare). From my observation two popular varieties of ocra grown in Malaysia are 5-angle ocra and 7-angle ocra. Both varieties mostly for domestic and few are exported to neighbouring countries.

A 10 hectare ocra farm at TKPM in Segamat produce about
2-3 lorries every day and sent to whole seller.
